World Cities Day 31 October

The United Nations General Assembly through its resolution 68/239 designated 31 October as World Cities Day. The day is expected to greatly stimulate the international community's interest in global urbanisation, promote cooperation among countries to address the challenges of urbanization and opportunities to contribute to sustainable urban development worldwide. Urbanization offers the potential for new forms of social inclusion, including greater equality, access to services and new opportunities, and connectivity and mobility that reflect the diversity of cities, countries and the world. As part of World Urban Day, the students of Geography Department of Dharmendrasinhji Arts College were taken to different areas of Rajkot city to get to know the city of Rajkot better. The program was organized under the chairmanship of Prof. Rriteshkumar Patel. Dr. S. R. Bhardwaj, Chairman of Geography Department and Prof. J. S. Valani guided and helped throughout the program.
